VMF Rugby is a Family Farm that is located in a small town in West Michigan between Lansing and Grand Rapids.  I am currently work as a Customer Service Advocate at Farmers Midwest Servicepoint. I was raised in an even smaller town not far from here but after my Grandpa died I moved here and I now take care of the family farm house. I have had dogs all my life I started out with a beautiful German Shepard my mom bought before I was born named Ginger and then I had a little beagle named Suzie, and a blue tick named Taco. When I was 12 mom brought home a beagle/ poodle mix named Rascal we didn't have him very long he went out to live with my Grandpa. Then mom and dad bought home a boxer/pitbull/german shepard mix. Rocky was a great dog.  After that my mom got into the Boxer's. They are a good breed, but for me they are a bit to big but like the Rat Terrier they will do anything to please their owner and with my brother's and me leaving the house. They gave my parents something to take care of. Mom shows her dogs in UKC and enjoys every minute of it.

Rugby Rat Terriers is a small kennel with Large  Ambitions

Currently I have 2 Ratties pluse the pups.  My Grandpa and Grandma bought their first Rat Terrier(a yellow and white named Peggy) in '62 for my mom.  After Peggy they brought two little sister's home, Daisy and Buttons were standard Black and white. From what I can remember of Daisy she was the calm one and Buttons was the wildfire. But together there wasn't a critter around that could stay on the farm very long. They hunted all the time which made Grandpa proud. Later after both Daisy and Buttons passed on my Grandpa decided not to replace them. I don't know if it was because he just couldn't bare to try to replace them or he just felt that he didn't need another dog. Then about eight years ago my Grandpa became really ill and my Mom and Uncle thought the best way to cheer him up was to get him another Rat Terrier. In comes a frisky little black and white, which my Grandpa later named Skipper after his favorite movie "My dog Skip". At first Grandpa really didn't want him and made life a little hard for Skipper but because Rat Terrier's can sometimes be more stubborn then their owners. He wouldn't give in. That impressed my Grandpa and his love for Skipper grew. They were as close as close could be till my Grandpa died in 2002. Then we lost Skipper to cancer tumor last year, after his last surgery my Mom took him to her farm were she could care for him better and he enjoyed running and helping my dad on the farm for the last of his life. He will be missed.
